Fritete



Founded in 1997 by Kwame Ansah-Brew, the Fritete African Drum & Dance Ensemble performs rhythms, dances, songs, and chants with a clear mission of representing various ethnic groupings in Africa. Fritete is committed to preserving and promoting the rhythms and dances of antiquity stemming from African traditions. Adjetey1.0

Fritete debuted at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in 1997. The Ensemble has since participated in many festivals throughout the United States, including the U.S. Virgin Islands 150th Anniversary of Emancipation Day and the Baltimore Rhythm Festival. Fritete has also performed at a number of colleges, including Virginia Tech, and the College of William and Mary. Most recently, Fritete had the privilege of representing the Royal Drummers of His Royal Highness Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, King of the Asante Kingdom, upon His visit to the United States.

Fritete is available to perform customized programs for festivals, concerts, parties, wedding ceremonies, and cultural events.
